MAINTENANCE PLANNER AND PARTS COORDINATOR
Cedar's Foods is seeking an experienced Maintenance and Parts Coordinator to join our team. We are a growing food manufacturer in the Merrimack Valley located in Ward Hill, right off 495. Summary
The Maintenance Planner/Parts Coordinator creates a weekly maintenance department schedule for three shifts, adjusting to complete both preventive and reactive work. The Planner coordinates schedules with the Maintenance Manager, Plant Supervisors, and Production Schedulers to ensure that priorities are met. The Maintenance Planner/Parts Coordinator reviews work orders as completed with Maintenance Techs, closes the work orders, and creates additional work orders as needed. This role includes overall responsibility for inventory management of parts and supplies for the maintenance of all plant machinery and supplies to support manufacturing. This position has a significant impact on machine uptime and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will have prior maintenance experience, including managing a CMMS work order schedule and a maintenance parts room, working with vendors and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Plan maintenance schedules for 3-shift operation to minimize interruption to the business and improve efficiencies
- Create work orders, publish schedule weekly and follow up with techs on work performed and time requirements.
- Develop job material lists and provide kitting, issue and return parts for maintenance work orders scheduled.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Engineer to create and update PMs.
- Generate purchase orders for parts, production supplies, and/or services to support the maintenance area.
- Install and maintain Kanban systems to manage inventory and trigger purchase orders where appropriate.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with Lock-out/Tag-out audits and participate on the Safety Committee.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager and/or Engineering to troubleshoot equipment issues and determine parts needed to complete repair.
- Enter data, create, and run reports in the CMMS as requested by management. Assist Maintenance Manager in analyzing data to understand root cause of unplanned maintenance downtime.
- Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of abnormal or critical situations and seek advice on matters outside the Planner’s knowledge or authority.
- Recommend improvements and participate in improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate records, neat work areas, and an organized Parts Room
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
- Attentive to details, excellent organization and follow-through
- Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, decision making (timely and appropriate) skills.
- Able to speak, write, and understand English
- Excellent computer skills (MS Excel/Word)
- Build collaborative and constructive relationships with maintenance team, operations team and vendors.
- Self-starter and team player, comfortable communicating and problem solving with team members at all levels.
- Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays according to business needs.
Experience
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience in a maintenance role; Associates Degree in a technical field and food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Maintenance planning, scheduling and procurement experience a must.
- Basic understanding of machine and facility maintenance; working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Ability to read prints and schematics preferred.

- Work and communicate in an environment with moving mechanical parts and loud noise requiring hearing protection
- Able to balance while ascending/descending ladders and scaffolding using safety procedures
- Able to twist, bend, lay, kneel, reach, and crouch at elevated and ground levels
- Vision abilities include: close, distant, and color vision
- Able to adjust to changing demands and environments quickly
- Employee will be exposed to variable air temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, high locations, vibration, chemicals. Primary responsibilities are in a shop environment
