Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Job description:
The purpose of the Maintenance Planner & Stores Technician is to support operational goals and KPI’s for tissue converting productivity, quality and safety at the facility. This position is responsible for the scheduling and planning of maintenance and preventative maintenance activities, and to ensure that spare parts are on hand in sufficient quantities at the time the parts are needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Administer the Express Maintenance System (EM) to prioritize, plan and schedule maintenance work efficiently while minimizing maintenance cost and equipment downtime.
· Review all submitted work orders and EM generated work orders to determine scope and best methods to accomplish the work. Identifies and obtains materials, tools, required permits, documentation and equipment access as required. Consults with the requester, maintenance manager, engineers or maintenance technicians as required.
· Stage work and documentation for planned maintenance work.
· Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner. Ensures employee safety needs are given a top priority in work planning and scheduling. Ensure maintenance activities meet safety codes, requirements for personal safety protection, safety policies and guidelines.
· Work with Asset Leaders, Maintenance Manager, Shift Supervisors and Engineers to prioritize work and ensure maintenance resource allocation for maintenance downs.
· Ensure completed work orders are returned promptly and entered into the CMMS.
· Completes a MRF for new parts to be ordered
· Generates a PO in EM for existing parts to be reordered
· Generates an EM Reorder report on a weekly basis for review and parts reordering
· Generate a mid-month and monthly report on part consumption for the Accounting Department
· Set up and maintain storage locations
· Conducts periodic physical inventories
· Ensures that spare parts are on hand in sufficient quantities at the time needed in the assigned locations

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
· Must be able to work 8 – 10 hour shifts
· Must be willing to be on call for issues after normal work hours
