The Montgomery County Government, Department of General Services (DGS), is looking for an enthusiastic individual to collect, process and deliver mail to multiple County Government locations.
Program Summary
The Department of General Services, Central Duplicating, Imaging, Archiving and Mail Services Program, provides document management through: high-speed photocopying and color copying services; desktop and electronic publishing; bindery; digital imaging; the electronic and physical archiving of County records; as well as U.S. Postal Service and inter-office mail delivery to/from County departments/agencies/offices.
Roles and Responsibilities
The nature of the work involves mail collection, processing, sorting and distribution. An employee in this position will be responsible for making scheduled mail pickups and deliveries, getting in and out of a mail van and performing a variety of activities relating to mail processing requiring extended periods of standing, taking elevators to multiple floors, and walking. The work is largely manual and includes such duties as sorting and bundling mail, operating/maintaining mail processing equipment including automatic mailing machines, computerized accounting system, U.P.S. manifest system, electronic scales, addressing mail, and inserting/folding equipment.
