Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Machinist – Fabrication and Machining . The general role of the Machinist is to efficiently and accurately utilize various machining techniques to repair and build products as specified by blueprints, work orders, and oral instructions. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for machining. This is considered a skilled position that requires knowledge of various machining equipment, components, and techniques.
This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial machining, must be proficient with the products and services offered by the company and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.
The equipment and skills are divided into four different categories: Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, and Group 4.
There are four levels of Machinist:
The Machinist will report to the Production Manager – Fabrication and Machining and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Machine Shop.
