General Machine Shop Worker
Systems Resource Management, Inc. (SRM) is currently seeking an individual possessing common knowledge of modern machine shop operations with experience in, or the ability to learn sandblasting, grinding, paint masking and preparing of machined parts and fleet equipment. This position supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department, Prototyping and Development Division, Industrial Services Enterprise (ISE) (Code 70).
Position Responsibilities:
· Set-up and operate machinery and tools such as:
§ Hand held tools and power tools
§ Sandblaster
§ Surface and Tool Grinders
§ Power Chisels
§ Band Saws and Cut-off Saws
§ Drill Presses and Power Drills
§ Belt Sanders
§ Taps and Dies
· Prepare material surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding, sand blasting, masking, as well as debris, dirt, and grease removal
· Assist technicians and engineers with installs
· Assist machinists with material preparation and job setups
· Ability to interpret and use shop drawings, blueprints, and sketches
· Unload supplier deliveries using hand trucks and palette jacks
· Stock in-process materials
· Sweep and mop floors
· Perform all work related operations within government safety and environmental regulations
· Maintain a clean, safe work area, and organization of tooling
Skills/Qualifications:
· High school/Vocational school diploma or GED certificate or graduate of U.S. Navy “A” school, apprentice school or technical school.
· Ability to obtain a CAT3 Crane Operator Certification
· Ability to obtain Confined Spaces and Breathing Apparatus Certifications
· Ability to perform grinding and sanding tasks in confined spaces when/where applicable
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
