Being an MRI Technologist modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and archives imaging data. Additionally, MRI Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires ARRT certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The MRI Technologist works under moderate supervision. POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the operation, procedures, patient safety and maintenance of the MRI equipment and related systems. Ensures that all required safety precautions & screenings are strictly enforced for the protection of customers and personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and magnetic resonance physics, as applied to MRI procedures and operation of the department. Must have excellent customer service initiatives and be a strong team player. Supports the University Health’s policies, values, and guest relations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) is required. License by the Texas Department of Health (CMRT) is mandatory. Two years radiology experience is required. Must test for MRI Registry after two years of employment in MRI area and must acquire MRI Registry within four years.
