Logistics Manager manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Manager oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Manager ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Logistics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Driverge of Akron is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse & Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize all warehouse functions to support the manufacturing efforts at our Chapel Hill facility. The incumbent will also play a pivotal role in supporting the Traffic and Transportation Department. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong leadership background, a clear understanding of Six Sigma and 6S principles, strategic planning capabilities, and experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, particularly within the automotive or vehicle upfitting work sector.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Warehouse Management:
    • Lead and supervise all warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient and safe receipt, storage, and distribution of goods.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline warehouse processes.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels to meet production and customer demands.
    • Oversee the handling of materials, including inspection, quality control, and organization.
    Team Leadership:
    • Manage a team of warehouse staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring productivity and morale remain high.
    Logistics and Transportation:
    • Collaborate with the Traffic and Transportation Department to optimize the use of parking lot space as well as the receipt and delivery of vehicles.
    • Monitor carrier performance and negotiate contracts with transportation providers.
    Six Sigma and 6S Implementation:
    • Apply Six Sigma methodologies to identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiency in warehouse operations.
    • Implement 6S principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
    Strategic Planning:
    • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives for the Warehouse & Logistics Department.
    • Work closely with senior management to align warehouse operations with company objectives.
    Quality Control:
    • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that products leaving the warehouse meet quality standards.
    • Investigate and resolve any quality issues or discrepancies in inventory.
    Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and safety standards in warehouse operations.
    • Promote a culture of safety and enforce safety protocols within the department.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
    • Proven experience (5 years) in warehouse and logistics management, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
    • Clear understanding of Six Sigma methodologies and 6S principles.
    • Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and technology.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
