Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Position Summary 

     

    This position performs limited aspects of aviation supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, shipping, receiving, and parts utilization) related to aviation activities and limited aspects of logistics (e.g., forecasting, planning, coordinating, and executing).  Work is usually segregated by commodity area or function, and controlled in terms of difficulty, complexity, or responsibility. Assignments/responsibilities may relate to stable or standardized segments of aviation supply management operations and logistical functions/operations. The work involves receiving aviation parts, stocking aviation parts, transporting parts to vendors, problem-solving, data management, data analysis, and logistical planning. 

     

    Essential Functions Statements 

    • General knowledge of aviation supply/parts systems, programs, nomenclature, part numbers and work methods.
    • Analytical ability to define or recognize the scope of problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and recommend action based upon the situation. 
    • Arranging the purchase or repairs of aviation parts. 
    • Receive aviation parts / collect documents / input and transfer documents into aviation data management programs. 
    • Ship aviation parts to include creating shipping labels/properly package aviation parts / coordinate package pickups and tracking shipping orders. 
    • Stock aviation parts / pull aviation parts for utilization / organization and general warehouse management for efficiency. 
    • Parts transportation to vendors – transport parts / pickup from local vendors. 
    • Aviation data management utilization (VERYON)
    • Assist in all matters related to and pertaining to logistics and aviation supply. 
    • Perform regular aviation part inventories of all stock in all locations (flightline/warehouse). 
    • Stock aviation parts / pull aviation parts for utilization/organization and general warehouse management for efficiency. 
    • Parts transportation to vendors – transport parts/pickup from local vendors. 
    • Aviation data management utilization (VERYON)
    • Assist in all matters related to and pertaining to logistics and aviation supply. 
    • Perform regular aviation part inventories of all stock in all locations (flightline/warehouse). 
    • Transactional compliance.

    Act as Empowered Official in accordance with ITAR requirements.

    • Use product descriptions and technical data to determine import and export classifications of saleable and purchased products. Respond to classification inquiries from MSM and other business units as 
    • Familiarity with acceptable customs valuation methods and escalate valuation questions to Corporate Trade Compliance.
    • Export Licensing: License determination on parts using US & regional import and export licensing requirements for hardware, technology, and services. This includes end-use / end-user restrictions that would require an export license.
    • Implement and maintain a Technology Control Plan.
    • Perform screening to include denied and restricted party screening, embargoed country screening, detection of red flags, and/or risk of diversion to embargoed countries. 
    • Understand country of origin rules at the site. Monitor compliance with preferential or non-preferential free trade agreements, if used.
    • Monitor and maintain recordkeeping for import and export compliance in accordance with local regulations and CIRCOR’s Internal Control Plan.

    Issue purchase orders to vendors and ensure products are delivered on time!

    • Manage and track daily inbound shipment flow from domestic and international vendors to monitor and maintain inventory levels.
    • Coordinate and update internal teams on inbound delivery status and schedules.
    • Communicate with vendors to resolve any issues regarding purchase orders.
    • Support the updating of all inbound shipping documents and system data integrity.
    • Collect, organize, edit, and provide data from various computer databases to Supply Chain team members, Sales, Operations team members, and management in order to effectively evaluate processes and performance within the procurement cycle.
    • Inspect incoming and outgoing parts, handling quality control issues.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
    This is a Part-time position with varying working hours to meet the US government customer requirements, and department and business needs. typical working hours of Monday through Friday or Friday to Sunday. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 29 hours per week with approval from the department manager. This job operates in an office/warehouse facility.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

    Required Education, Experience, and Certificates
     
    Education: High School Diploma  
     Experience: 
    2 years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement, and International Logistics

    • Full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or a job-related field
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office-based programs, specifically Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to adapt to changing environments and handle multiple priorities.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience in international logistics
    • Import knowledge dealing directly with carriers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders.
    • Must have excellent English communication skills.
