The person filling this position is responsible for operating the log truck and ensuring the shavings line has the required supply of logs for operations. Job tasks will range from operating the log truck, chainsaw operations, yard management, managing incoming log deliveries, to housekeeping, all performed in accordance with plant policies and safety policies.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
Safely operate the log loading truck and front-end loader to ensure a steady supply of logs to the plant.
Understand and follow all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Understand and follow all environmental rules and regulations.
Receive, internalize, and safely implement industrial operations training.
Implement safe working practices, including identifying hazards and providing recommendations for repair/resolution.
Support management, maintenance, and controls personnel to improve plant operations.
Work with all employees in a team effort to support the plant in attaining their goals.
Perform housekeeping assignments as directed.
Perform Quality Control procedures as directed.
Perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance while adhering to all safety procedures and equipment maintenance directives.
Maintain plant cleanliness standards and directives.
Safely operate material handling equipment to include log trucks and front-end loaders.
Understand and properly don all required personal protective equipment while performing duties.
Fully understand and perform all lockout / tagout requirements.
Completely and legibly annotate all required documentation.
Understand and be able to demonstrate the safe and proper use of all hand tools associated with the shaving’s operation.
Manage all incoming log deliveries and ensure they meet company standards.
Responsible for all scale house operations.
Maintain the log yard to company standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and have reliable transportation to and from work.
Ability to read, write and speak in the English language and perform basic mathematical computations.
Must be able to operate a manual transmission.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds and work in an industrial manufacturing setting.
