This is a student job position - you must be a student at the University of Alaska in good standing taking a minimum of 6 credits for the Fall and/or Spring semester to apply for and work in this position.
Join the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a tutor or grader. Tutors will work in the Math Lab or as a one-on-one or online tutor assisting students who request help with their math or statistics course. Graders will work directly with a faculty member to assist them with grading work from students. Specific training, including FERPA, is required for all tutors and graders. Tutors and graders need an A or a B in Differential and Integral Calculus – Calculus 1, 2 and 3. Graders need an A or a B in the course they are grading for, or in an appropriate higher-level course.
Completed Differential and Integral Calculus with an A or B or received at least a 4 on both the AB and BC AP Calculus exams.
Must be able to use online collaboration tools.
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and using written methods.
Must be able to complete UA Tier 1 Required Trainings within 2 weeks of hiring date.
Must complete TutorTrac and FERPA training before the first day of tutoring.
Must be able to log hours daily in TutorTrac and log hours during each pay period in UA Online.
