Locomotive Engineer drives electric, diesel-electric, or gas-turbine electric locomotives to transport freight and/or passengers between stations. Spend your days along the rail tracks and work as a team with the switching crews to safely move railcars in, out and around the facility.     Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Day Shift, Some Weekends Required

    Pay Range: $24.00 - $25.00 an hour based on experience

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Confer with conductors and other workers via radio-telephones or computers to exchange switching information
    • Signal crew members for movement of engines or trains, using lanterns, hand signals, or radios.
    • Observe and respond to signals, including color light signals, position signals, torpedoes, and flags.
    • Operate engines within railroad yards or other establishments to couple, uncouple, or switch railroad cars.
    • Spot cars for loading and unloading at customer locations.
    • Inspect engines before and after use to ensure proper operation.
    • Apply and release hand brakes.
    • Read switching instructions and daily car schedules to determine work to be performed, or receive orders from yard conductors.
    Job Qualifications:
    • Experience operating a locomotive
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License 
    • 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
    • Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
    • Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
