Spend your days along the rail tracks and work as a team with the switching crews to safely move railcars in, out and around the facility. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Day Shift, Some Weekends Required
Pay Range: $24.00 - $25.00 an hour based on experience
Job Duties & Responsibilities:- Confer with conductors and other workers via radio-telephones or computers to exchange switching information
- Signal crew members for movement of engines or trains, using lanterns, hand signals, or radios.
- Observe and respond to signals, including color light signals, position signals, torpedoes, and flags.
- Operate engines within railroad yards or other establishments to couple, uncouple, or switch railroad cars.
- Spot cars for loading and unloading at customer locations.
- Inspect engines before and after use to ensure proper operation.
- Apply and release hand brakes.
- Read switching instructions and daily car schedules to determine work to be performed, or receive orders from yard conductors.
- Experience operating a locomotive
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
- Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
