Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills, which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

The Green River Correctional Complex is seeking a Locksmith. This position has the primary responsibility for the maintenance of the lock systems at the institution.

Responsibilities may include:

• Maintains the lock systems within the adult institutions.
• Repairs a variety of locks as needed such as cylinder locks, lever tumbler locks and pad locks.
• Installs and repairs door closers, panic bars, doorknobs and related locking hardware.
• Oils and adjust doors and related locks.
• Makes new keys and duplicates keys as needed.
• Sets up numbering system for the duplication of keys according to the locksmith's codebook.
• Maintains records of old and new combinations, instructional materials and catalogs.
• Prepares and maintains required reports, work orders and cost estimates.
