Localization Engineer develops and produces localized versions of the company's products and services. Supports the creation and maintenance of localization test specifications and scripts for automating localization testing. Being a Localization Engineer tests localized products according to test specifications. Identifies, prioritizes and fixes localization bugs according to established procedures. Additionally, Localization Engineer applies working knowledge of networks, operating systems, hardware, software, and testing/production environments in performing work assignments. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Localization Engineer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform international market research and analysisIdentify and understand common market patterns that affect the product spacePartner with Product Management to develop territory-specific localization product strategy and planning for international propositions.Develop and maintain localization linguistic resources such as style guides, glossaries and term bases.Provide cultural input, insights and recommendations to inform larger product, copy and design decision-making in partnership with Content DesignPartner with vendors and internal QA teams to implement and enforce quality assurance processes for maintaining linguistic integrity.Provide oversight and input around translation and localization bug managementServe as the primary point person for translation and localization requests and validationOptimize localization process and practices on an ongoing basis for efficiency and efficacyQualificationsEssential Skills and Attributes: Experience performing competitive research and market analysisPassion for language and cultureStrong communication and documentation skillsDirect experience with translation, transcreation and localizationExperience developing and maintaining linguistic assets — including glossaries, term bases and style guides.Knowledge of multilingual UAT/QA best practicesSelf-motivated, detail-oriented and extremely well-organizedDesired Skills and Attributes:Fluency in non-English language(s) a plusCopywriting or copy-editing skills a plusExperience with localization tools and management systems (i.e., Smartling) a plusDegree/education in Linguistics or Cultural Studies a plusExperience working on global or international streaming services a plusEssential Knowledge and Experience:Proven ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple business requestsKnowledge of multilingual UAT/QA best practicesGreat collaboration and facilitation skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships and succeed as a team player within the organizationThis position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
