Loan Examiner Manager manages a team of loan examiners responsible for credit and loan auditing and examination. Ensures procedures are followed and all loan policy guidelines are appropriately applied. Being a Loan Examiner Manager contributes to or leads more complex exams. Mentors, trains, and assesses the examination team. Additionally, Loan Examiner Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Loan Examiner Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Loan Examiner Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Position Purpose:
    Ensure lending policies and procedures best serve the credit union and its members. Manage the day-to-day operation of the loan department. Ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws. Monitor and assess economic conditions affecting the loan department and recommend appropriate action.
      
    Responsibilities
    • Ensure that loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations. 
    • Formulate and maintain a loan procedure manual for the loan department that is up-to
    • up-to-date with all regulations and requirements. Ensure staff training and compliance 
    • Establish budgets that support the credit union’s strategic plan for the loan department. Monitor progress regularly. 
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may 
    • affect the credit union’s loan department. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively. 
    • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s rates and terms and other trends relating to 
    • lending. Construct products, rates, and terms that reflect the marketplace. 
    • Provide input and recommendations for lending interest rates 
    • Monitor and coordinate the discretionary and mandatory loan interest rate changes. 
    • Develop, assess, and complete monthly loan reports. Develop procedures and reporting tools for 
    • effective information to flow through the department 
    • The decision of all loans are processed in the Loan department. 
    • Review consumer loan files to ensure quality and that lending policy are followed. 
    • Define appropriate limits of authority for consumer loan personnel, and ensure adequate understanding of the credit union’s loan procedures and policies. 
    • Interview loan applicants, resolve member complaints, and approve or deny loan applications 
    • Responsible for the underwriting and approval of all second mortgage loans issued by the credit union as well as the foreclosure, maintenance, and sale of residential and/or commercial properties that are in default. 
    • Oversee efforts required to develop and establish internal and external programs and relationships with mortgage brokers and others for loan production. 
    • Manage department staff to include setting schedules, approving leave time, reviewing performance annually, recruiting internal applicants, counseling, and disciplining. 
    • Manage loan-related insurance premiums to ensure staff is cross-selling as appropriate GAP/ MBP/ Credit Life/ Credit Disability etc.
    • Ensure all collateralized loans have titles and liens are perfected promptly.
    • Manage all aspects of Loan Servicing. 
     
    Qualifications and Experience:
    • 3-5 years of Lending experience, preferably in a small credit union.
    • An Associate’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certifications
    • Possess well-developed professional communication
    • The position requires a high level of organization, management of multiple tasks, the ability to work in a team, and collaboration with others.
    • Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-changing environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    Job Requirements:
    • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
    • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
    • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
    • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds across the office and load them onto shelves for various needs.
