    Duties

    As a Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support) in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of technical, analytical, and legal support services to the District of Arizona. At the full performance level, your duties will include:

    Providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation.
    Providing customer training for new users and providing training and assistance.
    Analyzing litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs.
    Assisting attorneys in organizing voluminous case information and digital evidence for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing, processing, and loading documents into a database.
    Preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software packages
    Using and appropriately employing a variety of software packages including databases, spreadsheets, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications.
    Diagnosing and resolving litigation support computer system hardware and software problems.
    Works with trial teams to determine various ways to present graphic and audio/visual demonstrative evidence for trials.
    Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

    You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
    Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

    Qualifications
    GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-5 level; or Education, or a Combination of Education and Experience.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting with computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications. Supporting attorneys in preparing for court such as preparing exhibits, subpoenas, information requests, pleadings and/or correspondence; and preparing discovery productions, including scanning, processing, and coding documents.

    Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Criminal Justice): One full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree (or expect to complete within 9 months all the requirements for a bachelor's degree) AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement provisions: (1) class standing in the upper one-third of the graduating class; (2) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum; or (3) election to a membership in a national scholastic honor society.

    Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

    Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Criminal Justice) a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

    Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

    GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-9 level; or Education, or a Combination of Education and Experience.
