Litigation Manager provides guidance and advice to a staff of paralegals or legal assistants involved in prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Monitors timelines and work progress to ensure work is completed on time. Being a Litigation Manager conducts new hire and ongoing training sessions. Requires a thorough knowledge of the organization's products/services. Additionally, Litigation Manager requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to the top legal executive/general counsel. The Litigation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Responsibilities
- Drafting lawsuits, drafting and responding to discovery, taking depositions, and conducting mediations and trials.
- Work closely within the litigation team to guide the work of the paralegals and provide support to the senior managing attorneys for civil litigation and Camp Lejeune clients.
- Determine case strategies and solutions to serve client's needs after analysis ● Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action.
- Get the appropriate legal documents ready for clients, such as briefs, motions, and pleadings, as well as correspondence.
- Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions.
- Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings
Qualifications
- 5 years of Personal Injury trial experience
- Proficiency in writing, research, and negotiation
- Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required
- Must be able to handle complex caseloads with little supervision
- Must be an active member of your local bar association.
- Advanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis) required ● Superb negotiation skills and experience
