Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. NATURE OF WORK
The Aerial Lineman is a member of the construction team that is responsible for placing aerial strand and fiber in a communication distribution system. Responsibilities will also include placing hardware, anchors, storage components and terminals to customer specifications. Work will be at heights around 30 feet off the ground.
