Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. We have an opening for a Well-Qualified Journeyman or Apprentice Lineman located in Sisseton, SD.
Applicants must be sufficiently qualified as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman and be able to do necessary emergency repair work. Must have a diploma from an accredited line worker program or equivalent experience. Must have knowledge of electric line construction, maintenance, and repair. Must be able to assume responsibilities for area operations, maintain favorable public relations, and supervise and instruct assistants as necessary. Must have a valid unrestricted interstate commercial driver’s license. Successful applicant will be expected to reside within 17 miles of permanent headquarters in Sisseton, SD.
Serves as the Company representative in the designated group of towns. Installs, removes, or replaces meters in customer establishments. Installs and maintains service lines, receiving customer complaints and performing necessary repair work to overhead distribution or service facilities.
