Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     Job Summary: The primary role of an Lineman will be to make repairs to street/area lighting equipment as required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This job has no supervisory responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Travel to various job locations, local to the Phoenix Metro areas
    • Review job work requirements and provide input regarding work for the day.
    • Load and unload tools, materials and supplies into and out of vehicles at crew headquarters and job site.
    • Lift, pull and carry tools and other materials to and from job sites.
    • Load and unload tools, materials.
    • Climb poles using boot hooks or aerial lift.
    • Work will include the use of hand and power tools; digging holes by hand for pole installation; climbing ladders, poles; working at heights above 35 on poles and in aerial lifts.
    • Set and install underground structures, locates, pulls, removes, splices or terminates cables.
    • Operate hydraulic equipment including: boom truck, digger, pole tamper, and bucket truck.
    • Operate lift equipment such as aerial lifts and line truck booms.
    • Operate forklift to load and unload work materials and supplies.
    • May drive a Class A vehicle (i.e. bucket truck and line truck) to and from the job site.
    • Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
    • Must attend all mandated OSHA and company training.
    • Receive and review work assignments and routes; plans routes, check directions and locations; obtain vehicle safety inspection.
    • Fuel vehicle at designated fueling stations as needed.
    • Walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl or squat to access structures and equipment.
    • Lift metal cabinet doors.
    • Unlock / re-lock gates, doors, enclosures and manholes, as needed.
    • Use hand and power tools to open access panels, lift manhole covers.
    • Attend daily / regularly schedule tailboard meetings
    • Work as part of a construction crew

    Requirements:

    • Must have a Pole Climbing Certification
    • Must be a credentialed Journeyman Lineman
    • Must have a valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Must be able to read maps
    • Willing and able to work outdoors where they will experience extreme temperatures and possibly noise, and lift up to 80 pounds (see physical requirements)
    • Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes accordance to OSHA regulations.
    • If hired, must be able to verify eligibility to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
    • Possess English proficiency
    • Be 21 years or older
    • Must also be able to provide proof of insurance eligibility as an authorized
