Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. Delaware Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DEC) is a progressive, member-owned electric distribution cooperative seeking an experienced candidate to fill the full-time position of JOURNEYMAN LINEMAN.
The qualified candidate must have successfully completed a Lineman Apprenticeship Program or have 8000 (4 years ) working hours of experience. A Journeyman hired with 8000 (4 years ) working hours of experience is required to obtain the Journeyman Lineman Certificate within two (2) years of his/her hire date. Must have experience working on energized high voltage aerial lines and associated equipment, underground distribution systems, operating heavy equipment and must have a valid CDL license. Skills and abilities must be demonstrated by completing and passing an in-house certification test.
