Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. Job Responsibilities
This position is to prepare employees to become an Apprentice Lineman. This position is assigned to act as a lineman’s helper, whose work involves ground work and is knowledgeable in operating all equipment necessary.
Position assists line crew in all phases of electrical work. Must operate all trucks and equipment both automatic and stick shift.
Exercise proper operational care for trucks and tools. Assist on outage calls & perform other related duties as assigned.
All incumbents must successfully complete the Apprentice Lineman climbing school course and become climbing certified within their probationary period.
The probationary period is defined as six months from the date of hire. If unsuccessful in obtaining climbing certification, they will be deemed to have voluntarily resigned their employment with the company.
This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Requirements :
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be given a written technical exam and must get 75% or greater to move on in the screening and hiring process.
After passing the written exam, applicants will be given a variety of physical assessments that include dexterity testing, heavy lifting, measurements, and hand line operations.
Applicants must pass all sections of this testing to move on to an interview for the final selection process.
Pre- Apprentices will not be eligible to bid on any other positions within the company during their first two years of employment except for Apprenticeship positions.
After two years, Pre- Apprentices may bid on any position within the company.
All employees are expected and required to adhere to the Company Code of Ethics and Principles of Conduct .
Hourly rate is $28.52
