Line Cook prepares menu dishes following established recipes and using designated ingredients that meet production and quality standards as part of a cooking line. Follows all portion and presentation specifications and proper preparation methods. Being a Line Cook sets up and stocks workstation with all necessary supplies. Coordinates with other line cooks to ensure meals are delivered consistently and on time. Additionally, Line Cook is responsible for operating and maintaining a single workstation. May prepare sauces or garnishes. Follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a sous chef or executive chef. The Line Cook works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. The Westin Portland Harborview Hotel is currently seeking a full-time Line Cook to execute food service for various food and beverage outlets and employee cafeteria. This position will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Banquet Chef in ensuring refined, high quality food service is provided to our guests. The Line Cook will also contribute to managing food costs and improving overall food and beverage sales revenues beyond budget. This position is full-time, 5 days a week. Weekend availability is required as the schedule is based on busienss levels. Our ideal candidate will need to show strong communication skills with a professional demeanor; and be comfortable with making inependent decisions that are in favor of the business. Hotel experience is preferred and advanced knowledge of safe food handling practices is required - hotel will provide additional trainging and certification as needed.
