We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Manager for our group home in Bridgeport, CT. This is a professional position with the overall responsibility for the operation and supervision of the group home.
Managers are a critical link between the people we support and the community. The Manager also serves as a bridge between direct support professionals and other team members to ensure the seamless delivery of quality services to the individuals we support.
Managers facilitate the implementation of the Individual Plan (IP) and participate in a range of administrative duties including residential operations, staff training, scheduling and oversight, and budget and resource management.
Managers provide support to individuals receiving services, including: actualizing supported informed decision-making, assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning; medication administration; and health and personal care. Mangers also facilitate community membership by assisting individuals with meaningful community inclusion and providing transportation to medical appointments, work or other activities.
The Manager interacts with employees and persons supported in a respectful and supportive manner. Significant aspects of the work include encouraging individuals to communicate and work toward achieving their personal goals and providing direct support as needed. Other key functions are employee recruitment and development, training, supervision and retention, engaging and acting as liaison with families, developing strong and healthy inter-agency and community relationships, review and ongoing monitoring of supports and services, documentation and physical plant needs for regulatory, licensing, policy and accreditation compliance.
Qualifications:
· Minimum high school diploma or GED is required; secondary education preferred
· Up to date training in all mandated and non-mandated areas
· Excellent communication, social, teaching and interpersonal skills
· Preference for candidates with at least 5 years of experience supporting individuals with I/DD
· Previous experience with successful problem-solving and team-building
· Proven ability to work successfully with resource staff, external stakeholders and consultants
· Valid driver’s license in good standing
· Successful background check
· Supervisory experience preferred; demonstrated strong leadership and good judgement. Previous DSP experience a plus
