Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. We are searching for a director of underwriting consultants. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of all primary commercial property and casualty insurance products, be able to illustrate a successful track record in creating and implementing underwriting guidelines and manage employee performance through motivating and inspiring team members.
You will monitor company results, ensure new and existing regulatory requirements are met in conjunction with the product and compliance teams while maintaining and establishing new underwriting protocols essential to our corporate strategy. You will work with senior leadership and actuarial to develop pricing strategies while collaborating cross functionally to understand our customer needs and bring innovative solutions to our target markets. Individuals successful in this role have strong analytical capabilities, recognize opportunities to improve loss costs, drive workflow efficiencies, quickly identify trends and have a strong desire to succeed.
**This is a hybrid position that requires 2 days per week in the office**
