    Summary of Position

    Red Rocks Community College seeks applications for a process driven, detail oriented, collaborator to join our Child Care Innovations team as a Child Care Licensing Specialist.

    The Child Care Licensing Specialist is responsible to assist in the coordination of the interdepartmental contract with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood for the provisions of licensing services to child care facilities in accordance with rules and regulations established by the Colorado Child Care Licensing Act.

    Essential Responsibilities

    In accordance with established departmental policies, procedures, and State guidelines, visits child care facilities and completes general inspections, investigations of prospective applicant facilities, inspections and monitoring of facilities as required for maintenance and continuation of licensing, and complaint investigations.

    Compiles all documentation required by the State for licensure and completes and submits all department required reports.

    Assists in the preparation of documentation and serves as a representative as needed for hearings related to child care facilities.

    Disseminates information regarding the child care licensing process, the rules governing child care facilities, and the legal requirements for licensure.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in human services, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood, Social Work, or a closely related field.

    Three (3) years of experience working in a human services field in either a private or public entity, which includes working in the group care of children or in child care licensing, early childhood or related field.

    One (1) year of related supervisory experience.

    Education Substitution : A combination of education and directly related technical / professional work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

    Years of experience is in addition to any required years of experience for the position.

    Preferred Qualifications : Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

    Bachelor's degree with a focus on early childhood education or a related field. Current or previous license to operate a family child care home or center.

    Five (5) years of experience working directly with children in a regulated child care facility.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).

    Demonstrated documentation, verbal, and written communication skills. Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations for child care facilities.

    Knowledge of MS computer applications. Technical writing skills, knowledge of quality rating and improvement systems, and / or Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales.

    Physical and Cognitive Demands : The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

    This position generally operates in the community, with frequent travel between locations, and in an approved remote workspace, with rotating office coverage days / hours.

    Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. Requires the repetitious movement of hands, wrists, arms.

    • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
    • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports equipment and supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.

    Child Care Innovations is a department of Red Rocks Community College managing diverse funding provided by state, federal, county, private contracts, and fees.

    Child Care Innovations operates the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, serving Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Douglas, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Park counties.

    Through an Interagency Agreement with Colorado Department of Human Services, Child Care Innovations licenses facilities in Adams, Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Larimer, and Weld counties.

    Child Care Innovations' mission is to help improve quality, access, availability, and equity in early childhood services and supports.

    We do this through the provision of regulatory services, training and support for caregivers and early childhood professionals, advocacy, and innovative community partnerships that promote the importance of early childhood experiences and the connection to school readiness and the overall health of families and communities.

    Work Environment and Typical Work Schedule : Work is generally performed in the community of the assigned caseload. Administrative and prep work is generally performed in a home office but may be scheduled for rotating Specialist on Duty in office.

    Standard hours may be between 6 : 30 am and 6 : 00 pm depending on caseload needs and inspection type. May require hours outside of regular office hours, and occasional weekend hours.

    Starting Salary : Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
