    What you will be doing

    The Community Care Licensing Specialist 2 position ensures initial and ongoing licensing of foster homes is completed in an efficient and effective manner consistent with licensing statute, regulations, agency policies, and the OCS Practice Model. They provide consultation, education, supervision, technical assistance, and support to workers in all phases of the licensing process. They are responsible for development and implementation of regional resource family recruitment and retention plans.

    Working environment, you can expect.
    This position is located in Anchorage, Alaska and will work as part of a two-person team overseeing the Anchorage region and will work closely with the South-Central team as well. Our Offices offer plenty of parking and we are conveniently located near many restaurants and stores for easy access to lunch and shopping options. We are also located near the bus line if that is your preferred method of travel.

    The work we perform is critical and significantly impacts the communities we serve. As a result, the Community Care Licensing staff may work on evenings and weekends as needed.

    This position may require the incumbent to travel to remote areas in small aircraft and have occasional overnight stays in rustic conditions with some exposure to extreme weather conditions in the winter. You may also have the opportunity to assist other offices around the state.

    Special Note
    • This position requires a valid Alaska driver's license.
    • Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State.
    • A child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.
    • The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.
