Licensing Clerk assists in maintaining records, compiling information, and submitting forms necessary for agent licensing. Performs routine clerical duties, such as filing forms and other records from licensed agents and applicants according to an established system. Being a Licensing Clerk updates database, inputs data as required. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Licensing Clerk typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Perform a full range of licensing and title transfer services for vehicles, vessels, and mobile homes to contribute to the legally correct and efficient performance by the County Auditor of Washington State licensing mandates.
The County Auditor is charged by Washington State statute and by Washington State Department of Licensing regulations for issuing and renewing certain licenses within Grant County and to carry out registration and transfers of title to certain vehicles, vessels, and mobile homes. These services use computer-based systems networked to the State Department of Licensing which permit on-line licensing transactions. The work of incumbents involves substantial use of computer stations as well as competence in relevant licensing laws and regulations and requires training in the State’s licensing procedures.
Positions of the class report directly to the County Auditor but receive day-to-day work guidance from the Licensing and Recording Supervisor. Although supervision of others is not a normal part of the job, incumbents may assist in demonstrating work procedures to new incumbents and may provide technical work information to contract “sub-agents”, who are located outside the Auditor’s office.

Incumbents may be required to assist in counting and safekeeping ballots on election days and evenings. This task normally only involves travel on election nights.

The work of the position is carried out in an office environment sitting at a desk or workstation with desktop computer and standing or sitting at a public service counter.
