This critical position is responsible for recruitment, training, licensing, and retention of foster and adoptive families, providing services such as family assessments, family preparation for and support during placement, and post placement supervision. Also provides adoption case management services to children in foster care and families in the process of becoming licensed or approved for adoption. It requires a working knowledge of adoption law and an ability to work with the Probate Court-Juvenile Division.
Qualified applicants must possess a minimum Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field, Master’s degree preferred, LBSW or LMSW ideal. Internships may be counted toward experience. Other requirements include knowledge of and experience with foster care and adoption law, plus experience working with MDHHS. CWTI and DCWL training also preferred.
Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver’s license is required due to frequent travel to Jackson, Hillsdale, and Branch counties. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Shared on-call availability among foster care staff to manage 24/7 availability nature of the work is required.
