    Job Description


    This position functions as a recognized resource in the hospital occupational health with an intended goal of achieving and maintaining a healthy workplace as measured by incidents of workplace injury, illness, and violence. As such, the employee coordinates, implements, and administers the MDHHS Workplace Injury and Illness Prevention Program (WIIPP) within the Hospital and monitors/evaluates the hospitals patient aggression prevention program. These complex tasks involve developing and monitoring procedures, guidelines, and policies that serve as the foundation of the hospital’s efforts to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This position shall appraise themselves of relevant statutes/policy/accreditation standards and interpret as needed to define measurable program data variables.

    Successful implementation includes, but is not limited to, close communication and collaboration with hospital occupational health clinicians, developing and implementing measures to quantify variables related to workplace hazards, standardizing variant data, statistical analysis, maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies such as MIOSHA, provision of training, and provision of expert advice to both leadership and staff.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education
    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

    Experience
    Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
