Licensed Practical Nurse - Nursing Home administers nursing care in a nursing home environment under the supervision of a registered nurse or other medical supervisor. Provides basic medical care, including changing bandages, administering prescribed medication, and collecting specimens. Being a Licensed Practical Nurse - Nursing Home ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients by assisting with bathing, feeding, and dressing. Monitors and reports changes in patient's condition to supervisor. Additionally, Licensed Practical Nurse - Nursing Home requires a high school diploma. Requires graduation from approved LPN educational program. Requires a state license to practice. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. The LPN will help fulfill the care requirements of their patients and will be fully accountable for ensuring that the utmost in competent care and safety is consistently delivered to all residents.
Responsibilities and Purpose
- Provide bedside care.
- Administer medications and document therapeutic effects.
- Take vital signs and record to patient’s chart.
- Assist with resident comfort.
- Prepare and administer injections and/or enemas.
- Collect samples and monitor catheters.
- Provide wound care.
- Help coach staff as necessary.
Desired Experience and Education
- Current and unencumbered Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) License.
- Up to date First Aid and CPR certification.
- One (1) or more years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Long Term Care environment preferred.
