Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant assists one or more physical therapists in evaluations, tests, and treatments of patients. Prepares patients and equipment for therapy and implements treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment. Being a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant records patient's reaction to treatment and provides status reports at the end of each treatment to the physical therapist. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant requires State physical therapist assistant license. Typically reports to a physical therapist. Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     General Purpose: Responsible for continuous monitoring and improvement of care that is provided to patients/to improve their client’s ability to perform tasks in their daily living and work environments. They work with individuals who have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally or emotionally disabling in order to improve basic motor functions and reasoning abilities and also to compensate for permanent loss of function

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and delivering occupational therapy to patients/clients as directed by the physician’s plan of treatment and the interdisciplinary patient/client plan of care.
    • Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor, and other staff members in the assigned facility/setting.
    • Responsible for performing therapy assessment and procedures, which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill-based upon principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. Responsible for making decisions based on an individual’s educational preparation and experience in occupational therapy.
    • Responsible to actively participate in case conferences and make suggestions to appropriate supervisors.
    • Effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce, both clinical and non-clinical.
    • Perform and prioritize multiple functions or tasks.
    • Assist patient with standing, walking, sitting, and rolling in bed.
    • Read and interpret technical instructions related to the care of the patient/client.
    • Visually and auditorially observe and assess the patient.
    • Effectively deal with multiple changes.
    • Proof of valid driver’s license and valid auto liability insurance, if applicable.

    Education & Experience Requirements:

    • Graduate with a degree in an occupational therapy program from a university, which meets, the educational and fieldwork requirements of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
    • Successful completion of the national examination for OTR and state licensure required.
    • Additional requirements in some states for therapists who work in schools or early intervention programs (education-related classes; education practice certificate or early intervention certificate).
    • One (1) year experience as an Occupational Therapist.
    • Evidence of current CPR/BLS training including adults, children, and infants.
    • Meets applicable health requirements to provide patient care.
    • Proof of Covid vaccine, medical exemption or religious exemption
