Library Technical Services Director implements use of technology for library technical services operations. Develops policy and plan regarding materials acquisition budget, cataloging, serials and electronic licensing. Being a Library Technical Services Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Library Technical Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Duties:

    Perform duties in the Montana Tech Library Technical Services Department including the preparation, organization and processing of items for access by library patrons.  Collection maintenance and preservation.  Cataloging and processing of library resources.  Management of the map and government documents collection.  Assist with the management of Montana Tech’s institutional repository-Digital Commons. Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    •High school Diploma or equivalent
    •Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
    •Commitment and demonstrated ability to cooperate in a team environment and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with all library personnel

    Preferred Qualifications:
    •Experience with digitization best practices
    •Experience working in a library
    •Supervisory experience
    •Demonstrated commitment to public service
    •Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    •Ability to learn specialized software and emerging technologies

    Physical Demands
    •Ability to lift 50 pounds and push carts loaded with library resources
    •Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
