    The ATO Technical Practice Director (TPD) – Construction Management is tasked with leading Construction Management Practice Teams comprised of Atlas technical staff in the delivery of technical excellence and deliverables of the Practice. The TPD is responsible for the performance (performance metrics) and health (growth, training, recruiting, and retention) of the Practice. The TPD will ensure quality client service (internal and external) through feedback and management of the Practice. Depth and breadth of experience across all areas of technical expertise is preferred. This position reports to the ATO Operations Director.

    This position can be located at any Atlas office throughout the United States.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Ensure utilization in the Construction Management Practice meets targets by coordinating with the Construction Management Practice Team and Expert Group leads across Atlas. Collaborate with Project Managers, Office Leads, and Hub and Regional Management as required.

    Ensure technical services, projects and programs in a manner that supports delivery of Atlas key performance metrics (Revenue, EBITDA, Sales).

    Provide leadership and oversight of overall Practice project staffing assignments.

    Ensure staff development across Practice through training, mentoring, technical project assignments, geographical and client diversity, etc., and through collaboration with Practice Team leaders.

    Measure and manage the quality performance of the Practice by developing key performance measures to assess internal and external client satisfaction.

    Participate and support marketing and/or business development opportunities for the Practice. Ensure performance supports overall Atlas growth goals and business performance.

    Attend and participate in national professional societies for the Practice.

    Develop and manage risk management strategies for the performance of the Practice.

    Maintain strong and positive working relationships with the Practice, other ATO Technical Practice Directors, Office Leads, Management, and Senior Leadership.

    Develop, through collaboration with ATO Practice Teams, a Quality Management System for the Practice. Collect, analyze, and implement lessons-learned for continuous improvement of the Practice.

    Collaborate and partner with other Practice Directors to develop Standard Operating Procedures for the Practice

    Engage and collaborate with other ATO practices and the ATO Technology Director to champion the use of technology within the Practice, ATO, and Atlas.

    Review, stay current, and contribute to Atlas Strategy to guide the growth of the Construction Management Practice.

    Lead and implement with Practice Team leads, recruiting and retention strategies for the Practice.

    Collaborate with Business Development, Regions, and Hub for needs of the Practice.

    Maintain technical expertise within the Construction Management Practice.

    Program and Project leadership, management and/or technical work:

    Program and Project level leadership, management, and the development of technical deliverables is required to meet utilization goals established for the position.

    The ATO Technical Practice Director – Construction Management specialized experience consists of: Broad and diverse knowledge and experience providing construction engineering, management, and inspection services.

    Construction management: Construction engineering, management (Resident, Project, Office Engineer) and inspection. Staff augmentation for project oversight & documentation, Permit Prep & Review, Construction Observation & Monitoring, Document Review & Control, Progress Documentation, Schedule Review, Pricing and Estimating, Payment Review, Change Order and Supplemental agreement Administration, As-Built Record Drawings, Claims Avoidance, Dispute Resolution and/or mitigation, Construction Safety Analysis & Safety Program Development, etc.

    Construction Inspection: Construction inspection by licensed professional engineers, certified technicians, and environmental specialists for asphalt, concrete, reinforcing steel, soils and aggregates, masonry, structural steel, retaining walls, etc. Construction Observation & Monitoring, Document Review, Progress Documentation, Daily inspection reports, Quantity and Payment Review and Construction Safety inspection and review.

    Position Requirements:
    Bachelor of Science degree in related Science or Engineering practice.

    Professional licensing and certifications in construction engineering, management, and inspection services, or similar.

    10 or more years of progressively responsible technical experience, management, and leadership of deliverables and/or projects in the Practice.

    Knowledge and experience leading, developing, and managing technical staff within construction engineering, management, and inspection services.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of Atlas.

    Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven with the ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively.

    Proven problem-solving skills in demanding situations.

    Ability to work independently and in a team environment with internal and external clients.

    Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint).

    Proficiency in Microsoft Teams (Channels, SharePoint).

    Working Conditions:
    Ability to perform in a high stress environment.

    The employee spends most of the time sitting or standing in a comfortable position with ample opportunity to move about.

    Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    Ability to read or interpret data as well as having the capacity to communicate (verbally and written) with both company and outside personnel professionally and effectively.

    Travel is required and is expected to be approximately 20% - 40% of the time worked.

    There is a strong emphasis on safety while working both in the office and in the field.
