Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Supports the mission of Norwich University by administering library systems, maintaining the library's website, providing access to the library's electronic resources, and compiling usage and other statistical reports. Participates as a member of the team providing reference and instruction in a broad range of subject areas. This is a faculty ranked position.

    Essential Functions

    • Manages the implementation, maintenance, development, and enhancement of library systems, including OCLC WorldShare Management Services, WorldCat Discovery, OCLC Link Resolver, and EZProxy.
    • Provides leadership for the library's web presence and manages all web content in LibGuides CMS.
    • Serves as primary vendor liaison for contract compliance and service issues with all library system and metadata partners.
    • Coordinates the life cycle (evaluation, acquisition, administration, and support) of licensed electronic resources.
    • Serves as liaison with campus IT on relevant library technology issues including single sign-on authentication.
    • Participates in core librarian responsibilities including research support, information literacy instruction, and collection development.
    • Contributes to library planning and policy development.

    Other Functions

    • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
    • Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
    • Serves on university committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
    • Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
    • Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
    • Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
    • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

    Job Requirements:
    • Master's degree in library and/or information science from ALA-accredited institution.
    • Two or more years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an academic library.
    • Experience or interest in applying principles of user experience design and digital accessibility.
    • Familiarity with current and emerging technologies in digital and web-based library services.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and to work cooperatively with others.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
    • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 25 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
    • Work some evening or weekend hours

    Environmental Conditions

    • Indoor work at a computer workstation.
    • Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
