Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Learning and Teaching:
1. Develop a thorough knowledge of subject area and grade level curricula, and promote competency in information literacy across the curriculum.
2. Effectively plan the district/school library program to meet identified needs.
3. Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate information literacy competencies throughout the teaching and learning process.
4. Plan with teachers on the appropriate use and convenient scheduling of materials for classroom instruction.
5. Serve as an information resource for users of library media centers' materials and provide staff development opportunities for teachers on the availability and use of district/campus learning resources.
Library Programs:
6. Assist in preparation of bibliographies and curriculum guides.
7. Manage acquisitions and distribution; process, organize, maintain inventory resources.
8. Coordinate development and maintenance of community resource file.
9. Maintain schedules for instructional programs and encourage use of technology programs for educational purposes.
10. Create library media center environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interest of students.
11. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified.
12. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
13. Maintain Web presence of Learning Media Services.
Student Management:
14. Carry out discipline in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations.
15. Interact with students to promote positive attitudes toward school’s library/media centers.
16. Stimulate the use of the Library Media Center through displays and activities.
17. Continually evaluate the library media program and implement changes based on the findings.
Administration:
18. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
19. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and contractual obligations for library media services.
20. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the library media center programs and make changes based on findings.
21. Coordinate the District’s Community Library program.

29. Supervise and evaluate the performance of student aides, library aides and volunteers as applicable.
