Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Library Services Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operation of a library including staff work direction, collection management, programming, outreach and patron services. Leads efforts to meet regional strategic goals.The following are the regular duties for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Schedule, train, evaluate and coach library staff. Assist with hiring new staff.Provide customer service to patrons.Manage local budget and cash payments.Plan and implement library programs that reach diverse patron interests. Promote the library with community groups.Monitor the library building and work with the city on repairs and maintenance.Track and report on library activities.Manage the library’s collection of materials. Build relationships with community partners of the library including local Library Boards, City and elected officials, Friends groups, civic organization and others. Ensure the library is safe and welcoming by managing the public areas.Maintain the confidentiality of information.Enforces library policies and procedures including Data Privacy, the American Library Association’s library Bill of Rights, and the Freedom to View, and Freedom to Read policy statements.
