Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Library Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Performs skilled administrative support work providing specialized services and programs for the library, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Library Director. The normal schedule includes Monday 10 am to 7 pm, Tuesday 8:00 am to 5 pm, Wednesday 10 am to 7 pm Thursday 8 am to 5 pm, Friday 8 am to 5 pm and at least one Saturday per month, 8 am to 2 pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists customers with in-depth reference services at the access services desk in the Main Library, the Spangler Branch, community partner facilities, and satellite branch locations.
Instructs customers in how to use the library and its print and electronic resources; assists the public in person, by telephone, or via virtual chat; gives out specific information and instructions.
According to the Crew Manual of wedding or the deselection of materials, remove materials from the library's catalog; process inter-library loan requests; process customer hold requests and requests for new materials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of integrated library systems and applications; Microsoft office and/or Google Suite; knowledge of library collection development best practices; materials and research techniques; ability to analyze records and statistics; ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library customers, library staff, and community partners.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED and one to three years' experience in customer service, youth services or adult services programming experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
