Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. As our Youth Services Coordinator, you will provide library services to children and teens, which includes planning, preparing, promoting, and presenting children's and teen programming. You will provide reference and reader's advisory services, represent the library at community activities/events, and perform collection development tasks. You will also be involved in general library support tasks such as providing excellent customer service at our circulation desks, shelving materials, and other related work as apparent or assigned.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree with coursework in education, library science or another related field supplemented by experience working with children or teens, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
· Experience and enthusiasm for working with children and teens
· Computer savvy, with proficiency in common office equipment and software
· Ability to multi-task while appropriately prioritizing projects
· Strong interpersonal skills and a personable demeanor with the ability to work well with diverse groups
· Eagerness to learn and grow
Evening and weekend work will be required as well as the flexibility to work at any of the four Sampson-Clinton Public Library branches as assigned.
