Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The work requires regular bending, stretching, stooping, pushing and pulling; lifting print and other materials, office equipment and supplies of up to 25 pounds and the ability to move a reasonable quantity of materials from place to place within or outside the Library. May require standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods of time.
