Under general direction, this position directs and coordinates programs and services in library facilities and in the community ensuring effective implementation, marketing, and evaluation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Direct and coordinate the activities of one or more library programs of service in conjunction with library system policies; including, evaluation of service functions and programming; monitoring budgetary expenditures for supplies and staffing resources; forming and maintaining community partnerships; selecting, training and evaluating staff; interpreting library policies and procedures to staff and the public; and, resolving customer complaints or problems.
- Strategically develop and maintain the scope and quality of the library's collection of materials and selection of programming and services; including, overseeing the selection of books and other library materials for the collection; evaluating community collaborative opportunities; and, routinely evaluate and assess the efficiency, usage and relevancy of the collection, programming and service offerings to community needs.
- Supervise and participate in the delivery of library customer service; including, the provision of reference and reader's advisory service; utilize knowledge of both print and electronic reference sources, cataloging principles and popular literature; create and execute a search strategy to locate answers to specific questions utilizing either print or electronic resources; instruct library users in the use of library print and electronic resources and equipment; and, communicate with and respond pleasantly to a demanding and diverse public.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Compile and maintain daily work records, statistical data regarding program and service usage and performance measures, financial records for fines and service fees, and to prepare analytical and descriptive reports about library program usage and services.

Qualifying Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree in Library, Information Sciences
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience.

Two (2) years of management/supervisory experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
