Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. JOB SUMMARY
Library Aides are the frontline for library service and require delivery of excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills. This position performs a variety of library related tasks such as assisting patrons at the public service desk, demonstrates information literacy, processes library materials, assists with computer related tasks and new technologies, interlibrary loan requests and processes, assists librarians with programs and other library duties as assigned. Evenings and weekends are required. May assist at other library locations.

KEY FUNCTIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Education and Experience
High school graduate or GED is required.
2 years of customer service experience, library experience, cash handling experience, office experience or some equivalent combination is preferred.
Special Certifications and License
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Independence and Judgement
Minimal judgment: instructions, once established and defined, normally allow the job to be accomplished without direct and/or constant supervision; mostly routine work requiring that employee recognize obvious problems; situations outside the instructions are referred to the supervisor or lead worker.
