POSITION SUMMARYThe Library Media Coordinator manages and oversees the District library’s collections, the resource management system, and the District resource curriculum materials in conjunction with the Technology Department and the Curriculum and Instruction Department.
This position will also provide oversight and leadership of the library media aides in all buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Manage and oversee the district library’s collections, including print and digital collections, equipment, etc.
Manage the district’s library and resource management system Destiny in conjunction with the Technology Department.
Manage and oversee the district resource curriculum materials in conjunction with the Technology Department and the Curriculum and Instruction Department.
Support, manage, oversee, and complete procedures and processes related to the inventory management of library resources, curriculum materials, etc.
that are part of the inventory management system within Destiny.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Facilities and Technology on the usage of Common School Funds and needs of the library.
Oversee, manage, hire, and evaluate library aide staff in the district.
Collaborate extensively with site administration in the operation of school libraries.
Collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction team in the support of literacy development and other curricular resources related to classroom learning.
Demonstrate familiarity with academic standards and content disciplines to utilize library programming to support learning for all students.
Demonstrate a deep and rich understanding of how technology and technology products can be used to enhance library programming and student instruction in all content areas.
Demonstrate and deploy a rich understanding of collection development to support all schools and grade levels that supports the mission and vision of the West Bend School District and student learning.
Collaborate with teaching staff to embed research standards and library resources into the curriculum.
Demonstrate and deploy a robust library curriculum.
Provide professional development to administration, teachers and library aides on library resources, research practices, and technology.
Collaborate with K-12 librarians in other districts and local library staff to continuously improve library programming.
Refine and establish standard operating procedures for all libraries.
Maintain, refine, and establish procedures for record maintenance related to the library in compliance with appropriate privacy laws, policies, and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Experience :
Appropriate DPI Licensure #1900 Librarian or #1902 Instructional Library Media Specialist
Preferred 5 plus years experience in leading Library Programming and developing collaborative programming to support libraries
Key Skills and Abilities :
Possess strong leadership and collaborative skills, problem solving ability and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience advocating for and motivating ALL students to succeed in postsecondary environments.
Experience guiding students towards paths that fit their strengths and attributes.
Skilled at fostering students’ self-exploration of interests, abilities, values and goals.
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and practices for continuous improvement and to develop short and long term plans.
Ability to put into action the district’s long-range plan for library services
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, families, and the public.
