Library Services Coordinator oversees library service offerings designed to meet the needs of a specific user population. Ensures resource availability and implements new programs to meet service gaps. Being a Library Services Coordinator assists groups and individuals in locating, delivery, and obtaining materials. Establish and maintains cooperative agreements between the college and area libraries. Additionally, Library Services Coordinator graduates from an ALA-accredited school. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Library Services Coordinator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Role:   

    Answers patron requests for information and assistance via the phone and online. 

    Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

    50% - PATRON ASSISTANCE – Serves as the first point of contact for patrons in assistance with using library materials and information, guiding them in searching the catalog and stacks, accessing databases, and navigating the Internet; and passes the patron on to a Librarian for further assistance beyond the efforts required of a reference interview. (Essential)

     

    15% - CIRCULATION – Assists patrons with renewing materials, placing holds, paying fines and fees and other circulation-related processes and procedures. (Essential)

     

    15% - TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION – Applies digital technology skills by answering questions in order to assist patrons in using library technology; Fosters a nonjudgmental, supportive environment for a diverse population of technology users by using patience and effective communication to assure they receive a positive learning experience; Identifies opportunities to offer formal training in the library and advises patrons on availability of classroom and individual technology instruction.     10% - TRAINING CREATION – Creates self-help and instructional related content by identifying needs, using software and other tools to create the content and delivery of the content in order to provide virtual training and navigation sources for patrons and staff.  (Essential)

     

    5% - PROJECT AND SERVICES SUPPORT – Provides assistance and support with special projects, patron services, and District initiatives in order to support strategies, needs, and goals. (Essential)

     

    5% - OTHER DUTIES – Assists the Supervisor with department operations and tasks in order to ensure the smooth operation of the department.  (Non-Essential)

     

    Minimum Requirements: 

    Education: 

    Bachelor’s Degree 

    Experience: 

    One year of related experience 

    Or any combination of education and experience which provides the success factors

    Able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently
