Job Description: Resource Coordinator – Materials & Agency Referral
Reports to: Regional Program Manager or Disaster Case Management Supervisor
Status: Part time - Contract Funded
Role of the Area Resource Coordinator:
The Resource Coordinator plays a key role in aiding recovery efforts for residents affected by the declared disaster in designated counties: Sharkey, Carroll, Humphreys, Montgomery, Monroe, Panola
The Resource Coordinator will:
- seek and establish working relationships with corporate donors, foundations, referral agencies, and other sources to acquire construction materials, home repair supplies, appliances and home goods, and various services and utilities;
- Monitor the procurement and coordination of needed resources identified by case managers and construction analysts;
- maintain a database of available resources for survivors in the disaster area in partnership with the joint Resources organized by the disaster long-term recovery groups (LTRGs);
- ensure case managers are provided with proper referrals to service providers to resolve client unmet needs;
- Monitors status of home repair and construction projects needing volunteers and materials;
- coordinates volunteer requests with the Volunteer Coordinator for skilled labor to complete home repairs from case managers and constructions analysts with LTRGs; and
- ensures the equitable distribution of available resources to fulfill unmet needs of case management clients.
Scope:
Resource Coordinator – verifying materials and referral agencies working with DCMs and CCAs, and local and state companies and organizations supporting the recovery from the designated storm.
Essential Job Requirements:

- knowledgeable about materials and skills required by residential construction trades;
- history of project management experience is a plus;
- exhibit strong communications and interpersonal skills;
- experienced at assigning, guiding, and monitoring volunteer teams;
- build and nurture relations with donors, vendors, and other organizations;
- professionally organized and prepared to attend meetings and briefings and to present reports and conduct conversations with DCMP staff and external partners, both virtually & in-person;
- uphold confidentiality with financial and personal information;
- possess no personal or professional conflicts of interest with organization goals and objectives;
- express empathy, compassion, respect, and sensitivity for individuals, families, and communities;
- aware of and sensitive to the disaster impacts on the community, families, and individuals;

- assist DCMs and CCAs providing their clients with home repair materials, volunteers and accessories that help survivors return to living in their homes;
- monitor accurate records of material and volunteers applied to each project using the Client number supplied by the DCM and/or CM/CCA’s in program software (Vision Link/DART/QuickBase);
- coordinate the efforts of volunteers, contractors with donated materials in order to complete multiple projects in a timely manner;
- cultivate effective relationships with partner agencies, vendors, and suppliers of donated building materials applicable to home rebuilds;
- work with materials and volunteer coordinator to orient volunteers to project expectations and assign specific jobs according to their skills and abilities;
- other duties as assigned by Regional Program Manager or Chief Programs Officer which may include duties outside this job description
Working Conditions:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and consistent access to a registered, insured, and reliable vehicle to travel within the service area to fulfill the requirements of the position. Substantiated mileage is reimbursable. Mileage is reimbursable at the Volunteer Florida Travel rate.
- Constant interaction with internal and external third parties for the purpose of collecting and distributing information.
- The position is hybrid, in-person and remote work. The expectation is to visit survivors, Long Term Recovery Groups, and other organizations in person with time spent in the office and time working from home.
