The ASCPL is hiring a Technical Services Coordinator to lead a team of employees to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.
The Technical Services Coordinator supervises employees, provides direction and motivation, coaches, trains and develops, hires, and manages performance to organization goals and expectations; serves as a key member of management; understands the organization, financials, industry, customers, and strategy; manages budgets and resources effectively and efficiently; knows and understands organization’s financial position; manages vendors and outside service providers effectively; sets expectations and holds them accountable; catalogs and classifies Library materials according to AACRII, Dewey, MARC, OLLC, and LCSH protocols; oversees the acquisition, cataloging, and processing of Library materials; maintains authority control for the structuring and maintenance functions of the ILS and ASCPL holdings display in OCLC; resolves cataloging problems; communicates and collaborates with Collection Development, Public Service agencies, and the ILS Specialist; handles special projects, searches, and custom work; works collaboratively as a member of the Public Services Team on projects related to Library use and contributes regularly to Administrative teams; participates as a representative of the Library at local and state professional conferences, meetings, and workshops; and performs other duties as assigned.
Required: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. Knowledge of library services and operations. Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science. Knowledge of Cataloging of the Integrated Library System (ILS), including AACRII, Dewey, MARC, and LCSH, and OCLC input and tagging. Knowledge of the principles of intellectual freedom as they apply to public libraries. Skill in customer service principles, practices, and programs. Ability to plan, implement, and manage change within the agency, division, and/or organization. Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job. Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks.
Preferred: 5 to 7 or more years of relevant library experience. 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
