Team Description:
The AI Foundations team plays a central role in bringing our AI vision to life at Capital One. We work with academia and collaborate with product, technology, and business leaders to apply cutting-edge AI research to our business.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Distinguished Applied Researcher at Capital One, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with a diverse team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with their finances.
- Utilize a variety of technologies such as PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, and Lightning to uncover insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Build AI foundation models from design to implementation, including training, evaluation, and validation.
- Conduct high-impact applied research to advance the next generation of customer experiences.
- Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals using strong interpersonal skills.

Salary and Benefits:
The annual salary for this role ranges between $322,000 and $367,500 in New York City and $341,200 to $389,400 in San Francisco, depending on location. Part-time salaries will be prorated based on agreed-upon hours. Additionally, this role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
