As a UX Researcher on ASU Online, you will play a pivotal role in driving the evolution of our user experience strategy and enhancing the ASU journey for millions of online students.

    Collaborating closely with visionary technologists, and a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will make a lasting impact by accelerating UX research for our most critical student experiences. Through qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies, you will help inform our product development, shaping the way learners engage on a global scale.

    This role will contribute to our Mastercard/EdPlus Africa initiatives, ASU Online and Dreamscape Learn VR initiatives, helping the broader product teams through both evaluative and generative research. Your focus will be on uncovering friction and opportunities across the ASU student journey, by working closely within a product team, which includes: product designers, engineers, UX writers, data analysts and product managers. Your research will help form the future product roadmap, UX strategies and help us make user-centered decisions that will improve the life of our students, faculty and staff.

    Essential Duties:

    • Reveal what users need from our products by conducting primary research, exploring behaviors and motivations, and working with diverse teams to develop new features.
    • Work closely with designers in order to create and validate UX theories, inform design rationales and measure UX improvements.
    • Effectively communicate and present test plans, research findings, and detailed design rationale.
    • Distill project goals and research questions into well thought-out research test plans.
    • Collect and analyze user behavior by conducting primary research such as field studies, surveys, benchmark studies, AB testing, user interviews, diary studies, user testing, statistical and sentiment analysis, participatory workshops and usability testing.
    • Conduct and facilitate both in-person and remote focus groups and design sessions to facilitate improved user experience journey’s.
    • Design compelling presentations to articulate findings to different audiences.
    • Build personas and build out generative research insights.
    • Conduct evaluative research and present ongoing UX performance KPIs and insights to stakeholders post-launch.
    • Work in an agile framework, managing multiple analyses and research projects at any given time.
    • Build subject matter expertise and stay current on industry research trends.
    • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in related field (UX, Human Systems Engineering, Psychology, etc…) AND three (1-3) years of industry experience OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education form which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Desired Qualifications:
    • Experience in integrating user research into product designs and design practices. (2 years)
    • Digital portfolio or work samples with relevant experience; emphasis on case studies which illustrate how data was used to influence product design.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of research strategies like task analysis, contextual observation, usability testing, user interviews, surveys and web analytics, with an understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different methods, including when and how to apply them during the development process.
    • Experience writing research test plans and conducting research independently from discovery to insights to presentation.
    • Experience working with UX designers and product managers.
    • Experience in design thinking methodologies (design or whiteboard sessions).
    • Experience in work that requires organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with a quick turnaround.
    • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research tools such as Qualtrics, UserTesting, Google Analytics, etc.
    • UX design experience is a plus.
    • AB testing experience is a plus but not required.
    • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

    Working Environment

    EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

    Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

    EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy. (This is not a fully remote position.)
