    Team Description:
    The AI Foundations team is at the heart of our AI initiatives at Capital One. We collaborate with academia, build production systems, and apply cutting-edge AI technology to our business. As a Senior Distinguished Applied Researcher, you will guide and mentor a team of applied scientists and their managers. You will also represent Capital One in the research community and collaborate with prominent faculty members.

    Responsibilities:
    - Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with their finances.
    - Utilize a variety of technologies and tools to analyze large volumes of data and uncover valuable insights.
    - Develop AI foundation models from design to implementation.
    - Engage in high-impact applied research to improve customer experiences.
    - Translate complex technical concepts into clear business objectives.

    Qualifications:
    - Enjoy analyzing and creating solutions that benefit customers.
    - Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and continuously research and evaluate them.
    - Thrive on solving challenging problems and share new ideas.
    - Challenge conventional thinking and contribute to talent development.
    - Proficient in open-source languages, with hands-on experience in developing AI models and solutions.
    - Possess a deep understanding of AI methodologies.
    - Experience with large-scale model training and delivering models at scale.
    - Ability to propose and carry out research projects independently.

    Basic Qualifications:
    - PhD with at least 6 years of experience in Applied Research, or M.S. with at least 8 years of experience in Applied Research.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
    - Experience and expertise in specific areas such as NLP, behavioral models, optimization, fine-tuning, or data preparation.
