Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.       The Pottsgrove School District is currently seeking applicants for an Elementary Librarian. This is a contracted position available for the 2023-2024 school year. Pottsgrove teachers develop curriculum and lesson plans, and present those lessons to their students, individually or in groups. Teaching position involves direct instruction, co-teaching, case management, and collaboration. The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills, effective instructional talents, and establish relationships with students, colleagues and families. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. This position will be part of the close-knit community of Pottsgrove staff who positively impact the lives of students each day.

      Essential Performance Responsibilities
      • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
      • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
      • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
      • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed.
      • Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the Thomaston Public Schools.
      • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
      • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
      • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
      • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
      • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level and specific subjects, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
      • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
      • Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.

      Additional Duties
      Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

      Education
      • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

      LOCATION: split between West Pottgrove and Ringing Rocks Elementary buildings (K - 2)
      SALARY: Placement on the PGEA Salary Schedule based on experience and education. This is a contract position.
