    • You will search in major research databases such as Online Computer Library Center and Columbia International Affairs Online as well as the library's discovery system.
    • You will compile selective and comprehensive bibliographies, both annotated and unannotated, on historical and current topics of user interests.
    • You will provide content for Library web, social media and current awareness services.
    • You will give instructions to faculty, participants, staff, alumni, and other users on the content, nature and use of library resources.
    • You will create resource-specific tutorials, tip sheets, guides, and other information tools.

    • You will make recommendations for the purchase of disposition of materials in all formats, including equipment and/or technology capabilities.

    Qualifications

    In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a Professional Librarian providing comprehensive reference, research, and advisory service to individuals and groups in support of the library's mission.

    Successful completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree;

    A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.

    Educational Substitution for the GS-09:

    Successful completion of a master's degree in Library Science or equivalent graduate degree
    or
    Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education
    or
    Possession of LL.B. or J.D., related to the position.
